Description

Spanish Symphony for violin and orchestra, op. 21, by Edouard Lalo. Conductor: Jozsef Horvath. Soloist: Gabriel Croitoru (violin).

Edouard Lalo composed the Spanish Symphony for violin and orchestra especially for the violinist Pablo de Sarasate. The work includes five parts based on Iberian dance themes and rhythms, taken from folklore or created in the spirit of traditional Spanish music. Gabriel Croitoru plays on a violin built by the famous luthier Joseph Guarnerius in 1730, a violin that belonged to George Enescu.
